Ferry flight TBM850

05 FEBRUARY 2012, INFLIGHT - I was invited to come along on a ferry flight to pick up the privately owned TBM850. On the date of flight the winter weather conditions were nearly perfect. This was the first time that I took place on “a jump seat” and I enjoyed the ride. Finally time to look outside and enjoy the landscape with it’s frozen lakes. The TBM850 is driven by a powerful single engine turbine, a strong PT6. The normal cruise altitude is FL300 and flies like rocket trough the sky with 300 kts. It may be operated single pilot.

Annual proficiency flight, a good 2012 starter

10 JANUARY 2012, INFLIGHT / GERMANY - After a brilliant hint of a aviation friend (flight school friend) of mine I decided to go to Germany to do my annual check ride MEP + ME-IR. The costs of this check flight were significant lower than if I had done this in The Netherlands, but that was not the most decisive factor. A high level of professionalism was the main consideration, Germans are famous for this fact.

Newspaper article

The story is all about my aeronautical passion, yes, flying. Journalist Wim Goorhuis crafted a nice article and it was printed in the Saturday edition in this newspaper. You can read the full story here (it's in Dutch).

Another IFR (self) training flight to EDDG

10 JULI 2011, INFLIGHT - On this trip I took along for the first time my new camera the Rollei Action Cam 100 to record some cockpit (wide) shots. You can use this camera also outside the aircraft because it is water resistant to 100ft. I haven’t found a way to mount it though. In total I used three camera’s to shoot this footage (the Rollei, a JVC Hd handycam and a Iphone4). I also tested my new cable to record the ATC conversations.

Photo flight, large nature fire Aamsveen

Fire AamsveenIn the morning of friday the 3th of June I heard there was a large nature fire raging in the Enschede area called Aamsveen. I took my camera equipment and went of to the airport. I was lucky the Cessna 172 (PH-TWM) I was going to use for my photo mission had already had it’s daily inspection and fully refueled. After the preflight inspection I took off VFR to the specific area about 10 minutes from the airfield.
